Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) Giving
A simple, tax-smart way to support victims and survivors, now and all year round.
For 30 years, The Hotline has been there for people in their most difficult moments — offering support, safety planning, and hope, 24/7/365. A gift from your DAF helps make sure an advocate is always on the other end of the line.
What is a Donor-Advised Fund?
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a giving account you open through a sponsoring organization, like Fidelity Charitable, DAFgiving360, Daffy, or a community foundation. You contribute cash, stock, or other assets, get an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants to charities you care about, whenever you’re ready.
Think of it as a charitable checking account: the money is already set aside for giving. All that’s left to decide is where it goes.
How It Works
- You contribute: cash, stock, or other assets to your DAF, and you’re eligible for a tax deduction right away.
- Your gift can grow: many funds let you invest the balance tax-free while you decide which causes to support.
- You recommend a grant to The Hotline or any other IRS-qualified charity, on your timeline.
Why Donors Choose This Route
- An immediate tax deduction, even if you haven’t decided yet exactly where every dollar will go
- Flexibility: give appreciated stock or other assets, which can be more tax-advantageous than cash
- Simplicity: one set of records to track, instead of a receipt from every charity you support
If You Already Have a DAF
Make Your Year-End DAF Gift to The Hotline
As the year comes to a close, directing a portion of your DAF to The Hotline helps make sure that when someone reaches out for help in the months ahead, an advocate is there to answer — with the compassionate, life-saving support they need.
To give:
- Log in to your DAF account or contact your fund administrator.
- Request a grant recommendation to the National Domestic Violence Hotline (EIN: 75-1658287).
- That’s it, your fund administrator handles the rest.
Leave a Legacy Through Your DAF
You can also name The Hotline as a beneficiary of your DAF, so that any remaining funds in your account continue supporting survivors after your lifetime. It’s a simple way to extend your giving into a lasting legacy. Contact your fund administrator to add us as a successor or beneficiary.
