15th Anniversary
The National Domestic Violence Hotline begins a year-long commemoration of the 15th Anniversary of The Hotline with the “Love Is” awareness campaign to promote healthy relationships and ensure people in abusive relationships know that help is available to them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Since its inception in 1996, there have been many milestones and accomplishments for the National Domestic Violence Hotline. Millions of callers have been linked to resources for help, more and more survivors have regained their freedom with the help of our advocates and important awareness campaigns have been successfully launched. With each year of operation, victims calling The Hotline are seeking help and it serves as a life-line for women, men, children and families in danger. The Hotline offers victims, and those who care about them help and hope. With the “Love Is” campaign, we want to reach victims with life-saving information that help is available at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) and 1-800-787-3224 (TTY).
An array of high profile celebrities are helping The Hotline with the 15th Anniversary promotions by serving on the Honorary Committee. The Committee, chaired by Academy Award Nominee Salma Hayek Pinault, will raise national awareness of available resources and about the 2.3 million people who have been helped by The Hotline . The first in a series of Public Service Announcements features Salma Hayek Pinault in both an English and Spanish language video. Salma Hayek Pinault said, “We, as a society, believe strongly in safety and security, but too many women and children do not feel safe in their own homes. The goal of this awareness campaign is to create a great movement helping victims of domestic violence and to make everyone understand, through education and positive messages, what Love Is.” Click here to see the PSA’s.
In honor of The Hotline’s 15th Anniversary, we have designed products which focus on three things every person should have in their relationship: Love. Dignity. Respect. Show your support of healthy relationships by becoming one of the first people to wear the t-shirt the celebrities are wearing in their promotions for the 15th Anniversary. We hope you will purchase one of these items and wear them with pride and also use it as a tool to raise awareness about domestic violence. Click here to order your items.
Just as many celebrities are joining the cause, we ask you to join us on Twitter and Facebook to get involved and follow the campaign.
Thank you for your support of The Hotline. The special 15th Anniversary “Love Is” Campaign will increase awareness that help is available and this awareness offers opportunities to let more people know that domestic violence can and must be stopped. Through your generosity we are able to save lives and we thank you for your support.
